WEEK 5: “c/o The Incumbent, Writer’s Block, Amberville”
If you’ve been following us on Twitter, you might have noticed this tweet:
This Sunday & the next are gonna be “legen – wait for it – dary” for #shortfiction lovers!! :D
No, we did not have Barney Stinson guest-posting from our account. What we had, was lots of people sending their stories to us – all at once – for review. Since the d.ustb.in accepts multiple submissions, some of you even sent three-four stories at one go! For beginners like us, that’s a windfall by all standards! We were spoilt for choice & we were loving it! :)
There was this one tiny, little thing, though…
We, at d.ustb.in, believe that all authors deserve a fair chance. We consider ourselves to be a platform where every author can showcase their writing talent. At the same time, a good author and/or a good story must never be rejected. That is why we decided that we will continue to accept multiple submissions, but we will maintain a period of (at least) two weeks between publishing stories written by the same author. Sounds fair?
With that little preamble out of the way, we present to you this week’s featured stories:
Amberville
Written in the “filmi-noir” style, this story by Roshan R revolves around an Investigative Consultant, a vengeful playboy, his sexy fiancee, and the Mafia – all of them stuck together in the mother-of-all-messes in the fictional town of Amberville. If we printed this story on paper, we’d label this one a fast-paced, page-turner!

Incumbent
Ardent lovers of short fiction already know about Aditya B (@adityab) and his brilliant Daily Fiction (@dailyfiction) blog. He writes short stories (mostly under 200 words) almost everyday – each of them, an exercise in construction, narrative & characterization. This is one such story – short, crisp & brilliant!

Oh, by-the-by, we have big news for ALL of you. We’re now accepting POEMS as a type of fiction – any genre, any length! Limericks or sonnets, ballads or free-rhymes – if it tells a story, we want to hear it, erm, read it! To get you started, here’s an example:
Writer’s Block (Poem)
Written (composed?) by the person who parades as the Janitor on this blog, this piece of verse was intended as a window to the intricate upheavals that occur with the stagnation of an over-worked author’s mind. It was soon seen for what it actually was – a pathetic attempt to pacify readers waiting for an update on the blog. We’ll let you decide for yourself.

All we ask for is ONE mouse-click…
Since last week, we have been accepting new Submissions through the HeyPublisher system. We’d really like to know what you feel about this change in the submission process. Simply click the option that fits your thoughts best in this poll:
…and if the thoughts in this poll are unlike any of the thoughts in the poll, do leave us a comment & let us know! :)
As always, you’re always welcome to submit your stories for review. You should also follow us on twitter @_dbin! Do chat us up! Oh, and If you did submit a story and it hasn’t appeared this week – don’t worry, there’s always a next time! :)

The Janitor
How clean can a dustbin be? Well, ask me! I am the Janitor, who mops ups the place & keeps the dustbin clean - so to speak. This attempt is still in it's beta phase, so bear with me while I sort out the issues & kinks?
