- Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
Whoa! So many questions, eh? Have you checked the “About” page yet? - Who are you guys? Why are you doing this?
We call ourselves the Janitors (the managers of the dustbin, see?) and we’re pretty much your average short-fiction aficionados. Think of us as evangelists of the style, if you will. Initially, we started “The Dustbin” to popularise short-fiction in India. Soon we realized that short-fiction as a style needs to be popularized across the world. :) - So what does the author of a “featured story” get?
The author (and in effect, her story) are read by the amazing, discerning & huge audience we hope to build up in the near future. The story gets critiqued, commented, shared & spread by the community of short-story lovers – people like you & us. - I meant, how much do you pay per story / per word / per whatever?
We pay nothing. Zilch. Nada. - If you aren’t paying me, why should I give you my story?
We agree. If you’re getting paid for your story, you shouldn’t submit it to us. But, if you already have gotten paid for it, why not submit it to us & widen your audience? Also, if your story isn’t getting accepted, why not submit it to us & get feedback from that wide audience that we spoke about? - Alright, sounds completely stupid – but I’m in. Where do I submit my story?
Read our guidelines, then the terms & conditions, & then submit your story online. We’ll get back to you within the week. :) - How many stories can I submit at one go?
You can submit as many stories as you wish. We only ask that you submit them individually – as separate files. Yes, we do understand that this is a slightly lengthy process, but it ensures that do not miss out on any of your submissions. Also, it helps us treat each story on its merit since we have different editors handling different genres. - I’ve already submitted my story but I haven’t received a reply yet!
If it’s less than a week – wait. If it’s more than a week, contact us asap.
