“The chances that someone else hasn’t thought of the same ideas as yours, are pretty slim. In fact, ideas are like strangers on a train – you meet ‘em all at once, you choose which ones appeal to you & you go with them.”

I’ve been seeing my ideas appear elsewhere, consistently. So I thought I’d better get a move on this one, before someone else thinks it up!

And hence, presenting “The Dustbin” – the author’s true friend!

This is where select, curated short stories in various genres will get featured week-after-week, every week. If you’re an author, you’ll get to submit your own short-fiction for consideration. If you are a reader, you’ll get to read a variety of short-fiction by authors whose names you might soon see on paper!

But why SHORT-fiction?

For a long time, I’ve been feeling that the short-fiction as a genre of fiction has not been explored enough. Very few people realize that most successful authors were successful short-story writers first. The art of telling a story in under 5000 words has a charm that very few people can master & fewer can resist. In other words, you can finish reading a short-story in under half an hour, go back to whatever you were doing & return to read the remaining stories later!

So how will the Dustbin work?

Well, the site is now open for authors to submit their stories – which can be done here, on the site, itself! If you are an author, you might want to check the submission guidelines for details. Please also read the Terms & Condtions, before you submit your story.

I’m also looking for editors to help me curate stories – if you’re interested, drop me a line via the contact page – make sure you select the correct option in the drop-down! ;)

Some important points:

  • We don’t pay authors. This is a non-monetising site & I intend to keep it that way for as long as I can manage it.
  • We abhor plagiarism. If you steal a story, have the balls to steal it with the author’s name intact.
  • We believe in Creative Commons licensing.
  • We don’t have lawyers – please don’t sue us! :)

Feel free to ask us any questions you may have in the comments below.

Let the stories begin! :)
