Hello, and welcome to the d.ustb.in – the author’s best friend.

What?

We believe that the much-maligned dustbin *is* the author’s best friend. Think about it for a moment. Where do most of your story-ideas go to rest? Where do stories-too-short-for-a-novel, but longer-than-a tweet-or-flash-fiction end up? The dustbin. This is where your “stories-that-might-have-been” become “stories-that-are” – featured, that is.

Or, in simpler words, the dustbin is where we feature the best short-stories week-after-week, every week.

Why?

Because there were none.

Sure, there are a lot of sites catering to specific short-story niches – but none, as far as we know for short-fiction in general. Moreover, most of the sites require you to give them three months of the First Electronic World Rights to your story. In layman’s terms that means you cannot publish your story anywhere else – not even your *own* blog.

We only ask that the story you submit us be original – that is, it should not have appeared anywhere else on the internet or any publication. We’re okay if you’ve posted it earlier on your OWN blog – we just want you to be honest about it. We do NOT take kindly to plagiarism. If you _have_ to steal it, at least have the balls to steal it WITH the author’s name intact.

When?

Sunday.

Sundays are days to relax, so we figured publishing a new batch of stories every Sunday would be a good idea. We don’t have a fixed schedule yet, but we will publish new stories every Sunday – come hell or high water. Hopefully.

Where?

Right here, of course!

Grab our RSS feed to be notified instantly, or subscribe to our e-mail updates if you want to read them in the comfort of your inbox. We promise you we won’t spam, share or sell your e-mail in any way. Heck, we’re on YOUR side! ;)

How?

As always – with small steps.

We are not looking to take over the world, nor do we have any evil plans. We’re just looking to give you fresh short-stories to read, week-after-week, every week.

To quickly sum it up:

  • If you’re an author, looking to submit your stories, read the guidelines before heading to the submission form.
  • If you’re more interested in reading, than writing – spread the word for us?
  • If you’re a publisher looking for content for your magazine, contact us please? We’d love to hear from you! :)
  • If you want to work with us, reading, sorting, choosing stories that should be featured, [drop us a line] telling us why we should take you on board! :)

Who?

Well, for now, it’s just the Janitor (parades himself as Shrikant Joshi in the other world) mopping, cleaning, sorting, waxing – you know, doing generally everything. If you feel sorry for the dude, head over to the Contact Us page – the d.ustb.in could do with a better editor, we say! ;)
